Covid-19

The studio floor and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned after each class. The windows or doors will be kept open as much as possible to provide ventilation. You must use the hand sanitizer when entering the studio.

Do I need to bring anything to class?

Due to Covid-19, I advise that you provide your own mat, preferably 10mm thick and drinking water. However, l do have mats in the studio if anyone needs one.

Is there a toilet at the studio?

Yes, There is a toilet at the studio.

What should I wear to class?

Something that l can see your body move in so not loose fitting. No clothing to have zips as they may tear the equipment such as the foam roller. Please wear CLEAN socks if you are using my mats.

How often do I need to do it?

The realistic answer is, at least once a week, or ideally twice a week. The more the better, so try and do home workouts too.

I can't commit to a course, can I do drop in classes?

Unfortunately not. My classes run in blocks. To feel the benefits from Pilates, it is important to commit to it and practice regularly. It allows the classes to progress and flow well.

What happens if I miss a class? Do I get a refund?

You can do 1 catch up class in a class of a similar level during that block if there is space.

Catch up classes cannot be carried over into another block. There are NO refunds for missed classes.

Is Pilates a cardiovascular workout?

Initially the workout is slow moving because everything is being explained to you. Eventually, once you learn the workout and you're going through the motions, the pace increases. You have to work towards it, and Pilates can be cardiovascular.

Will my body be sore after a Pilates class?

Feeling sore is a very individual thing. Some people don't feel sore. Pilates is what you put into it.

Can Pilates help me lose weight?

A little but it needs to be part of an overall change of lifestyle and diet. Your muscles are the metabolic engine of your body, so yes, keeping them toned in Pilates will help.

"I just don't get it - I don't think Pilates is working for me "

These are some of the comments I get from beginners. It's natural when trying something new. But be patient with yourself. Don't expect to be able to understand and do all the exercises straight away. Pilates uses the same movements each week so although the first week might feel like you've got loads to think about and you might not be sure you're getting it all, be patient as your body will start remembering, enabling you to work harder and get more out of the exercises. If you're not sure, stick at it as it takes time. It won't happen overnight... but it will happen. Generally it will start to make sense within the first 6 weeks.

Can I still practice Pilates if I'm pregnant?

It is vital that you consult your doctor before embarking on any exercise routine if you are pregnant. Once you get clearance from 16 weeks onwards, then it is safe to practice Pilates. Please ensure that you tell me as soon as you are pregnant. This information will be kept confidential.
